Hi, I'm kate!

I am a dance photographer, educator, and creative business mentor based on the Sunshine Coast.

I’ve been photographing dancers for over 18 years and started Picture This by Kate Whatman at 17 with a love for movement, emotion, and storytelling.

Since then, I’ve worked with studios across Australia, photographed thousands of dancers worldwide, and built a business I genuinely love.

These days, I also mentor photographers (many of them dancers or creatives) to build confidence, charge properly, and create sustainable photography businesses.

I’m the creator of The Dance Pose Playbook, Dance Pose Prompt Cards & The Dance Photographer Starter Pack, helping photographers pose dancers with ease, even if they’ve never danced themselves.

My two girls (13 & 11) each had their first studio mini-shoot with the lovely Kate recently and the photos have come back beautiful. Can’t believe what was achieved in 15 mins, the perfect way to get comfortable in front of the camera! My girls had a ball and felt at ease very quickly.
